License To Wed Has Cast, But Lacks Punch
Imagine
everything that could possibly go wrong in a relationship on the way
to the actual wedding day and you might not feel so bad after watching
License to Wed. Mandy Moore (Because I Said So, How to Deal)
plays Sadie, an organized and controlling fiancé to Ben, played by
John Krasinski (Office Space). They decide to tie the knot, but
there is a fly in the ointment…Reverend Frank (Robin Williams) requires
all couples married by him to attend, or rather go through a rigorous
marriage counseling course that will have you cringing.
From the beginning we watch the happy
couple go to “How to fight while screaming at your spouse” group
meetings, two mutant robot babies with far too many realistic features,
a hospital visit to promote birth control and Reverend Franks sidekick
bugging their bedroom. The two lovebirds start to find flaws in each
other and take you on a rollercoaster ride of feelings.
Even
with an amazing cast, this romantic comedy is predictable and watered
down. Audiences will go to watch Robin Williams in a role where he should
shine and wonder why they harnessed his comedic skills and had him downplayed
by a small choir boy and a pair of pooping robot babies. This movie
will make you laugh in various places, but you might leave knowing it
could have been so much funnier. If you like Meet the Parents,
or Office Space you might like this movie, but won’t find it
near as entertaining.
